It’s not a secret that plastic surgery has become more popular over the years, with an estimate of of 17.5 million people getting plastic surgery each year nationwide according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. (https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/News/Statistics/2017/plastic-surgery-statistics-infographic-2017.pdf) Asia is also catching up with the trends, China accounts for 12.7 percent of the total plastic surgery procedures – after the United States and Brazil. In most Asian cultures, you are judged based on your appearance vs. your credibility or qualifications, in other words, if you are nice to look at, you are more likely to get the job. In this regard, back in 2004 there was news of a husband suing his wife for $120,000 American dollars because their children were “ugly” and that the wife, unbeknownst to her husband, had plastic surgery. The husband was able to win his case because this counted as fraud, the husband’s argument was that he was lied to and manipulated into marrying her. This conveys that, if you plan on getting plastic surgery and plan on hiding it, you won’t be able to hide it for long. The truth will come out eventually, especially if you plan on marrying and having kids. Doesn’t anyone marry for love anymore or is it all about looks nowadays? You should be able to fall in love with a person’s mind and character, not placing it all on their aesthetic features. Besides, is beauty going to raise the children of tomorrow or is it the knowledge and charisma people pass on?   Beauty is not flawless but, it shines through your flaws.

plastic.jpgIn recent news, people have also gone to extremes to fulfill their vision of beauty. Recently, 3 Taiwanese women went to South Korea to get plastic surgery done on their face, they tried flying back the same day but were detained and questioned by immigrant officers because their face were so swollen that the officers were unable to properly identify them by their passport photos. They showed officers their passport, tickets, and other traveling documents but were unable to prove that they were the same people on their passports. How ridiculous is that? Completely altering your features to become someone absolutely different. Choosing to go under the knife is choosing to become a stranger to your friends and family, countless days of pain, and potential health risks. Learn to love yourself and let your inner beauty shine through. There’s no need to alter or enhance your look, you are unique, flaws and all. There’s nothing more sexy or alluring than when someone has confidence in themselves.
